      <ResourceName>Mercury flyby #4</ResourceName>
      <ReleaseDate>2020-09-22T13:30:15Z</ReleaseDate>
<Description>The closest approach took place at 23:48 CEST (21:48 UTC) on 4 September 2024, with BepiColombo coming down to around 165 km above the planet’s surface. For the first time, the spacecraft had a clear view of Mercury’s south pole.

Data from MPO MAG Team in Braunschweig. The resolution is 1 minute.
For r_mso less than 1.3 RM you will only see the direction, not the magnitude.

      Offsets:
The offset correction for flyby 1-3 is not done yet, although as many disturbances as possible have been corrected. But still, please be aware that the errors can still be large.
Flyby 4 is already offset corrected. The total offset was more than 20 nT.

      Uncertainties:
Before entering the eclipse the mag data might be ok.
After entering the eclipse there are large temperature influences + other influences from the spacecraft lead to large disturbances. Be very careful with mag data after eclipse or closest approach.
