<Description>
The source of the data is the ion head of the medium-energy particle analyzer (MEPA)
on the MPTE/CCE spacecraft, which detected ions with energy 25-7000 keV in 10 energy bins.
Since the detector did not distinguish different ions, one may assume that the particles are mostly protons.
Only data from the first 5 energy bins are included in present dataset. The MEPA instrument suffered gain shift throughout
its mission, which resulted in upward shift of the energy passbands. The gain factor has been periodically evaluated and energy passbands are
updated accordingly. The data was also divided into two pitch angle bins, one covering particles with velocities nearly perpendicular (pa 45-135°)
and the other covering particles with velocities nearly parallel (pa 0-45° and 135-180°) to the measured magnetic field.
