The instrument comprises three antenna systems (a 70 m tip-to-tip dipole in the equatorial plane, a monopole along the spin axis, and a pair of crossed-axis magnetic search coils) and four receiver systems (an rf receiver for the 1.25 kHz to1 MHz rangein two intervals from 1.25to48.5 kHz and from 52to940 kHz; a plasma frequency receiver covering from 0.57to35 kHz in32 contiguous intervals; a fast envelope sampler from 10 Hz to60 kHz with four commandable decade ranges to capture transient events; and a wave form analyzer, dc to500 Hz, that operates in two frequency bands, from dc to10 Hz and from 10to500 Hz). It also includes an active sounder for determining the ambient electron density. The instrument has a mass of7.3 kg, excluding antennas and booms, and has a data rate of116 bps in storage mode and232 bps in tracking mode. It uses 9.9 W mean power and10.4 W when the sounder is operated.</Description> <Contact> <PersonID>spase://SMWG/Person/Robert.J.MacDowall</PersonID> <Role>PrincipalInvestigator</Role> </Contact> <InformationURL> <Name>NSSDC's Master Catalog</Name> <URL>http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/database/MasterCatalog?sc=1990-090B&ex=6</URL> <Description>Information about the Unified Radio and Plasma Waves (STO/URAP) experiment on the Ulysses mission.</Description> </InformationURL> </ResourceHeader> <InstrumentType>Antenna</InstrumentType> <InvestigationName>Unified Radio and Plasma Waves (STO/URAP) on Ulysses</InvestigationName> <ObservatoryID>spase://CDPP/Observatory/AMDA/Ulysses</ObservatoryID> </Instrument></Spase>
